Deep-bellied and footed, the Toureg bowl has a grounded, weighty presence — its thick walls and uneven rim the result of being hand-turned from a single piece of wood rather than any design affectation. The surface is dark brown with fine geometric etching, the tonal variation across it coming from decades of handling by the craftspeople in Senegal who made it. It sits well on a dining table, sideboard, or entry shelf as a standalone object — no arrangement needed.

The uneven rim is the point — few of our decorator pieces are this unapologetically hand-turned.

No two bowls in the Toureg collection carry the same etching pattern — the geometric carvings are worked by hand, so the depth and placement of each line differs from piece to piece. The footed base gives it a sculptural lift, raising it off the surface so the full profile reads clearly. The dark, mottled tones in the wood are the result of years of use, not a stain or finish — that richness can't be replicated.

It's substantial enough to anchor a dining table centrepiece on its own — you don't need to fill it. If you do, dried botanicals or a few smooth stones work with the organic weight of the wood rather than against it.

Each bowl is carved from a single piece of wood and has been in daily village use before export — minor cracks, repairs, and tonal variation are inherent to the piece, not defects. The wood may respond to changes in humidity. Keep away from prolonged direct sunlight and moisture.

Cleaning: Wipe with a dry or barely damp cloth. Do not submerge in water or place in a dishwasher. Apply a small amount of food-safe wood oil occasionally to maintain the surface.
