Stacked, the six coasters read as a single striped block — white and faint grey banding that shifts as the light moves across the surface. Each is laid by hand with small square tiles of mother of pearl, so the grout lines run slightly off-true and the tone varies from one tile to the next. They sit well on a stone or timber coffee table, and hold a glass without sliding.

The shell does something no printed surface can — the tone moves between white and grey depending on where the light is coming from. Each tile is cut and set by hand, so the grid never runs perfectly true. Small enough to leave out, which is the point.
  • Material: Mother of pearl
  • Finish: Hand-laid shell tile
  • Use: Drinks coasters
  • Colour: Cream

Leave them stacked rather than spread out — the layered edge is the most interesting angle, and the shell reads better against timber than against glass.

Placement: Coffee tables, bar carts, bedsides, side tables

Perfect for: A coffee table or bar cart that needs something small and light-catching sitting out permanently.

Shell is porous and does not like standing water — dry the surface after use. Harsh cleaners and direct heat will dull the tiles. Indoor use.

Cleaning: Wipe with a soft, dry cloth. Do not soak or put in the dishwasher.
