Dark, heavy, and hollowed deep, this bowl has a rawness to it — the kind of object that reads as functional even when it's sitting still. Carved from a single piece of indigenous wood by Fulani women in Senegal, it sits on a woven rattan ring base; the charcoal surface bears visible tool marks and natural grain variation that make each bowl distinct. It holds its own on a dining table, entry console, or kitchen bench without needing anything around it.

The rattan ring base is an unexpected detail — it lifts the bowl just enough to give it a footed quality without being fussy. Because each piece was a working object before it became a decorative one, the uneven charring, tool marks, and grain irregularities are specific to that bowl alone. There's no factory finish here — the surface absorbs light rather than reflecting it.

It's dark enough to read strongly against pale linen, raw timber, or white stone bench tops — you don't need anything else around it to make it land.

Each bowl is carved from a single piece of indigenous wood and has developed its patina through years of food preparation and use. The dark colouring is natural aged wood, not a stain or finish. Avoid prolonged water exposure, which can cause the wood to crack or warp over time. Not food-safe for wet or liquid ingredients.

Cleaning: Wipe clean with a dry or barely damp cloth. Do not submerge in water or place in a dishwasher. Treat occasionally with a food-safe wood oil if the surface appears to be drying out.
