The rectangle gives you room for a plate and a glass without the mat disappearing under either, and the antique brown finish sits closer to worn timber than to fresh cane. Up close the weave runs in fine parallel rows with a mitred seam into each corner, so it reads as constructed rather than moulded. It's hand-woven rattan from Myanmar, and the antique tone varies across a batch — some mats come up warmer than others.

The antique finish sits closer to worn timber than fresh cane, which is rarer than it should be in rattan. Mitred seams into each corner mean it reads as built rather than pressed. It varies across a batch, so a set of six has range in it.

Rattan is not built for full outdoor use — sun and moisture will fade the finish and loosen the weave over time. Indoor, or a well-covered verandah. Don't soak or leave standing water in the weave.

Cleaning: Dust with a soft brush. Wipe with warm soapy water and dry straight away.
