Bold and flat against the wall, the Mel mirror reads almost as textile — its charcoal and cream zigzag pattern pulling the eye across the surface in a rhythm that shifts as you move past it. Hand-painted by village artisans in a traditional Indian tribal art form, the lines are laid down by eye, and the slight unevenness is exactly what gives the piece its energy. It works well above a console in a hallway, or on a bedroom wall where the pattern earns more wall space than most art would.
