Each mat is a square of tight rattan weave, with a raised rib running from every corner into the centre so the surface breaks into four planes rather than reading flat. The tone sits between straw and pale sand, and it moves a little from mat to mat the way undyed cane does. They're woven by hand in Myanmar over a formed square edge, which is why the corners hold their shape and the weave tightens as it runs toward the middle.

The raised rib running corner to centre catches light differently on each of the four planes, so a set of six never looks flat or repeated. Undyed cane means the tone varies mat to mat. Light enough to stack in a drawer, sturdy enough to leave on the table.

Rattan is not built for full outdoor use — sun and moisture will fade the finish and loosen the weave over time. Indoor, or a well-covered verandah. Don't soak or leave standing water in the weave.

Cleaning: Dust with a soft brush. Wipe with warm soapy water and dry straight away.
